Who we are
Monte Builders is a family-owned California Class B general building contractor based in San Jose. We work in San Jose, Santa Clara, Mountain View, Los Gatos, Milpitas, and Morgan Hill. This policy covers montebuilders.com and the information we handle when you call us, email us, send our contact form, or hire us for a project.
If anything here is unclear, call us at (408) 476-0969 or email contact@monte-builders.com and ask. We would rather answer the question than have you guess.
What we collect
Information you give us
Our contact form asks for your name, phone number, the city your project is in, and the type of work you need. An email address and a description of the project are optional. If you call or write to us instead, we keep what you tell us in that conversation.
Information we collect while working on a project
Once a project starts we hold the property address, notes and measurements from site visits, plans and engineering drawings, permit and inspection records, photographs of the work in progress and at completion, scheduling details, and billing and payment records.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, ours records technical details of each visit: IP address, browser and device type, the page that referred you, which pages you viewed, and when. This comes through Google Analytics or a similar tool, described below.
We do not ask for and do not want Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, bank login credentials, or card numbers over email or through the website. If a project needs payment details, we collect them separately and directly.
Why we use it
- To answer your inquiry and put together an estimate.
- To schedule the work, run the job, and invoice it.
- To pull permits and deal with building departments, inspectors, and utility providers.
- To handle warranty questions after the job is finished.
- To send you messages about your own project.
- To meet our obligations under California contractor licensing, tax, and insurance rules.
- To see which pages people actually use, so the site gets better rather than longer.
Who else sees it
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not hand it to data brokers or lead-resale services.
We share it only where the project or the law requires:
- Service providers working on our behalf. We use outside vendors for web hosting, email, contact-form delivery, accounting, and analytics. Each receives only what it needs to do that job for us, and none of them are permitted to use your information for their own purposes.
- Subcontractors and suppliers assigned to your project, limited to what they need to do their part of the work.
- Building departments, inspectors, and utility providers, for permits, approvals, and service connections.
- Our insurer, accountant, or attorney, where a claim, an audit, or a legal obligation calls for it.
- A successor, if the business is ever sold, merged, or reorganized. The information would stay subject to a policy at least as protective as this one.
Cookies and analytics
This website uses cookies and similar technologies to remember preferences and to measure usage. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, but some features may not behave as expected.
How long we keep it
Project records stay with us for as long as California law allows a construction claim to be brought. For defects that are not visible on reasonable inspection, that window can run ten years from substantial completion, so project files are kept accordingly. Licensing, tax, and insurance rules set their own minimums, and we follow whichever is longest.
Inquiries that never become projects are deleted within about two years. Analytics data follows the retention period set in our Google Analytics property.
How we protect it
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards for the information we hold. No system is perfect. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as California law requires.
Your rights as a California resident
California residents can ask us to do the following, and we will honor these requests whether or not we are legally required to.
- Know. Ask what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it, and who we shared it with.
- Delete. Ask us to delete what we hold. We may need to keep some records where permits, warranty obligations, tax rules, or licensing requirements say so, and we will tell you if that applies.
- Correct. Ask us to fix information that is wrong.
- Opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are used in California privacy law, so there is nothing to opt out of. If that ever changes, this policy changes first.
We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights. You will get the same service and the same pricing.
To make a request, email contact@monte-builders.com or call (408) 476-0969. We will ask a couple of questions to confirm you are who you say you are, so that we do not hand your information to someone else, and we will respond within the timeframe set by California law.
Children
This site is meant for adults arranging construction work. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will remove it.
Other sites we link to
This policy covers montebuilders.com only. When we link to a manufacturer, a building department, or any other outside site, that site has its own privacy policy and we have no control over it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the business or the law changes. The effective date at the top will change with it, and if a change materially affects how we handle your information we will say so on this page for at least 30 days.
